Peterson Sent To Toronto

One thing we’ve heard all winter long out of Denver is that Gary Smith would be re-doing a good portion of his roster. Currently we are waiting on one trade to finalize between the Rapids and New England Revolution but for now we can discuss one trade that is final.

The Colorado Rapids announced today a trade with Toronto FC in which the Rapids receive allocation money in exchange for midfielder Jacob Peterson.

Originally drafted in the 2006 SuperDraft by the Rapids, Peterson has recorded eight goals and five assists appearing in 92 games for the Rapids. He sat out most of last season the ladder part of last season with an ACL injury. I felt at the end of the year that he would have been a good pickup for the Philadelphia Union in their expansion draft but I’d say thoughts of his ACL injury kept them from picking him up.

Now Peterson is off to Toronto to join Preki and his club at BMO Field. I’m not entirely sure this is a good move for either side. I do like Peterson but I don’t know where he fits in at Toronto just yet. As for the Rapids getting some allocation must mean they are looking to make some splashes in the transfer market here.
