back to the Jeff Parke possibility, we don't necessarily need to have him on our roster to use the fact that we have his rights. Maybe Philadelphia won't pick one of our players (5 teams wont have a player taken) because they make an agreement with the Sounders to release his rights to them, sort of like a trade. Remember Jeff Parke is a player that was about to graduate MLS and go to Europe until the whole drug test failure. Just hypothesizing.

Pretty much what I thought - obviously switch Zakuani for Nyassi if Steve graduates before the draft. If FL10 is indeed protected, we should protect Jaqua. Nyassi has pace, but he is still raw. Jaqua isn't getting any better, but we are already thin at FW.

Marshall doesn't have too many years left - Ianni is much cheaper and played a very strong game vs. Houston. Riley improved over the course of the year and except for a knack for red cards, he's been solid. Vagenas & Sturgis (especially) have ridiculous contracts, so they aren't going anywhere. Wahl is apparently not under contract - I could see him getting taken since he was starting until Leo arrived.

The most ironic thing here, WV, is that among the people you list as exposed are five people whom the Sounders chose in last year's expansion draft!

That shows the quality of the team Sigi Schmid produced.

Also, re: Jeff Parke...he isn't eligible for the expansion draft because he is not currently on the Sounders FC roster.

Just emailed Seattle GM Hanauer. He says DP is protected, PLUS 11 other players. So, take Ljungberg off the list...

For Zakuani it's not a matter of I don't think he won't graduate because he definitely got the PT to do so. Its a matter of I'm not entirely sure when the league will graduate GA contracts here. He'll graduate from his GA contract this year no doubt its just a matter of when the league does it. I've heard they will do it before the draft next week and I've heard it will come at the end of this month. So who knows.

I can't imagine Seattle will protect Nyassi over Jaqua. Probably not even over Marshall, who just turned 35. If the decision were made not to protect Jaqua and Marshall, I think Seattle would be more likely to protect Roger Levesque than Sanna, since Roger has proven that he can perform under pressure.

Also curious why you think Zakuani won't graduate from GA this year? Seattle fans would be thrilled if he didn't, but he's had a LOT of playing time this year, and from what I can see that seems to be the major factor they consider.
