It's a money-saving move (AEG doesn't have to pay security or ushers to police the area), and a face-saving move (the Galaxy can claim "sellout" even at less than capacity). AEG will do nothing that won't enhance it's bottom line. Whether it helps the fans is completely irrelevant. Just ask Cannon Girl in San Jose.
