[...] The Let’s-Be-Real Commentator: The only way this happens is if DC United and League owners decide that DC United can no longer exist in the DC Market and look to the move the team to another city. In which case, the League would have to determine whether Baltimore fits their growth plan or whether moving the team to one of the previously mentioned cities (e.g., St. Louis, Atlanta, Nashville, etc.)… (WVHooligan.com) [...]

could they Be-more un-United? I know DC is a hard area for pro sports, except for the Redskins, that is. But come on, can't they find something in the area?

Can somebody please explain to me how they got an MLB team and a brand new stadium, but can't get a SSS for a team that has been there for more than a decade?

p.s. those rumbles you hear are the support struts for RFK, man that place is a hole, there is ivy and stuff growing in and around the upper deck seats.

"Sure but you have to think it will certainly harm this deep fan base."

The DC area is hurting its own fanbase; if I were them I'd be really pissed at the whole situation. Especially after some counties were interested in looking into it, then stopped short of even a study of the possibilities. I think it's a good move on Baltimore's part. A city like that should be looking for ways to get people into it. I'd certainly rather see them move to Baltimore than St. Louis or Nashville. An hour away from DC is still better than moving to a non-VA or MD state.

In which case, the League would have to determine whether Baltimore fits their growth plan or whether moving the team to one of the previously mentioned cities (e.g., St. Louis, Atlanta, Nashville, etc.).

I doubt it happens, and I doubt that the Maryland Stadium Authority would come up with similar figures if the team were to move to Baltimore. The PG County plan placed the stadium within the Beltway and one a metro line.

As long as the team continues to suck, support for building a new stadium will never be found. And even then, if the economy doesn't rebound to a level that DC United/MLS decides it can afford to fund a significant majority of the stadium, I don't think we'll see it happen.

It's not like the team can leverage the 2018/2022 World Cup bid as incentive because a 30K seat stadium will be overlooked in favor of FedEx or M&T Bank Stadiums.
