You know I had a bad feeling about yesterday’s game in Mexico for this very reason. We all know Mexico has been the epicenter of the H1N1 flu virus outbreak (commonly known as the swine flu). Turns out one of our own guys on the US men’s national team has tested positive for the virus.

Grant Wahl is reporting tonight that Landon Donovan has tested positive for the virus. While he said he didn’t contract it down in Mexico, the conditions at the Azteca yesterday sure didn’t help.

“I felt something when I got into Miami on Sunday,” Donovan said. “I just felt real bad and finally went to see the doctor. They took a swab from my nose and confirmed it, so that was that.”

“I haven’t felt that way in a game in a long time,” Donovan said from Los Angeles. “During the game and even after the game I thought maybe it was the altitude, the heat, whatever. But even so I’ve never felt that bad. The last time I was there [at Estadio Azteca] I didn’t feel that bad. I just felt lethargic, slow. I didn’t feel normal.”

No word yet on if Donovan will miss any time with the LA Galaxy here because of this. He said that if he is good to go he will play. Just kind of a weird thing to hear something like this.

Hopefully Donovan will be fine and not miss any time due to this virus. Get well soon Landon!
