As some of you have seen over the last day or so on my Twitter feed (twitter.com/wvhooligan), NBC Universal, the parent company of Telemundo and mun2 have been emailing the WVH inbox like no other.

Two typical PR-style press releases and one in a slightly response to my post on the ball being dropped with mun2 broadcasting the game a little while back.

What can I say, they are trying their best to get people behind this venture of theirs to hype mun2 to the masses. By offering free broadcasts to satellite users and other cable outlets around the country, a good chunk of folks should be able to find this game and watch it.

Sad part, we have to listen to Marcelo Balboa commentate on the game!

Marcelo isnt as bad as some others i have heard….at leaast he knows the game!

  • WVHooligan

Not the worst for sure but I still can't give over the bad calls from the 2006 WC from him.

Wait… so will it be free? I have DirecTv but do not have the Latin package (I have all the sports packages except the Spanish ones; go figure). I was under the impression that I would have to order this package for that one day, then cancel my subscription at the end of the month.

But now NBC says it will be free to satellite viewers? What? Drew, can you clear this up please! I am very confused.

no f*cking way am I purchasing another coverage, I might just go to a bar.

  • pnw

Too bad most of the cable providers here in Seattle don't provide telemundo, there is no option to even turn on mun2.
Not being racist, but we are a very white and yellow city, not much brown. so there aren't a lot of spanish cable options.

I prefer Balboa over Harkes. Wynalda was my favorite from ESPN.

To pnw, Comcast offers mun2 on channel 603 and Telemundo on 607.
I'm a little surprised that NBC was able to out bid ABC/ESPN for this.
