• 2009 All-Star Game, Everton

Major League Soccer announced the All-Star selection for this month’s All-Star game in Sandy,UT at Rio Tinto Stadium. Dominic Kinnear will manage the side against EPL side Everton.

Keep in mind this first eleven doesn’t actually mean this is the starting roster for the game against Everton, Kinnear will decide that.

The first XI goes as follows:

Kasey Keller (Sounders FC), Geoff Cameron (Houston), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire); Shalrie Joseph (New England Revs), Stuart Holden (Houston), Guillermo Barros Schelotto (Columbus Crew), Freddie Ljungberg (Sounders FC), Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC); Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Conor Casey (Colorado Rapids) .

No real comments on the players picked today. Not as much ballot stuffing as once thought here from Seattle or Toronto. No RSL player in this mix so it will be interesting to see which RSL guy gets called up to the game.

What do you make of these selections?

  • WTF

Of course their is major ballot stuffing… however, the fan vote accounts for a minority of the formula to determine the "first XI."

yeah, the MLS website shows the breakdown by voting group. The coaches wielded the strongest pull, they were voting in 10% groups for different players, while the fan's maximum for any individual player was much more varied.
I think Alonso or Hurtado should have made it ahead of Conde for Chicago (what ever position he plays)

also, Montero's recent form especially vs Colorado, and scoring in 5 consecutive MLS games doesn't compute since it was late in the first half of the season, and most of the impressions, and actual happenings of the games happened after votes were submitted.
it is what it is…..

Kyle Beckerman will get the nod from RSL, is there any doubt!

Also, DeRo won't be playing. TFC has a Champions League game the same day.
