Yeah, as MZ pointed out, the 1950 World Cup was in Brazil, not England. I've been one of the many calling out Bradley, but I have to give him his due today. He made the perfect sub with Benny, whose calm on the ball and killer pass led to the second goal. And of course, the goal was scored by Dempsey, who Bradley had just put up front. The boys played great, pure and simple. A day to be proud.

Actually Kevin, the game was played in Belo Horizante Brazil, and they radioed the score home, and they thought they had misheard it and printed 10-1. I agree though with WTF, the 89' game is being left out of this discussion rather unceremoniously.

I think the biggest win in US history was 1-0 over England in the 1950 World Cup. It was IN England, we fielded a team of amateurs, two of our best players weren't playing because they had to WORK, and the English people thought the score was printed incorrectly in the paper the following day, and decided it meant 10-1 England.

But this is a close second.

Fair point...I think a lot of folks forget that win in the US soccer history. Certainly a big one no less.

The biggest win in US history has been, and may always be, beating T&T in the final qualifier in 1989 to reach Italia '90. That put the USA in its first World Cup Finals in 40 years, and started the snowball rolling. It is unclear if soccer would have grown at such a rapid pace in the last 20 years without that group of college players laying the foundation. So with all due respect to England, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and others, T&T 1989 was the biggest American win.
