- CONCACAF Champions League
CONCACAF released the draw today for the 2009/10 edition of the Champions League. Today’s draw was for the preliminary rounds. Two MLS clubs (DC and New York) were involved in the draw.
Houston was drawn into group A along with Metepan (SLV) and Olimpia. That group will be rounded out with the winner of Pachuca (MEX)-Guatemala No. 2 (Comunicaciones or Jalapa).
Columbus is headed to group C to meet Saprissa (CRC), the Cruz Azul (MEX)-Herediano (CRC) winner and Canada No. 1 (Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps)-Puerto Rico Islanders (PUR) winner. If somehow TFC is to pull out a mircle in the Canadian Cup against Montreal they could face their rivals in Columbus. I think this has the makings of being the hardest group here.
New York will face Trinidad and Tobago side W Connection. While DC United will Chalatenango of El Salvador.
Below is the rest of the draw along with the groups again.
Arabe Unido-San Francisco (PAN) vs. San Juan Jabloteh (TRI)
