  • Celtic, Dominic Cervi

Remember former Chicago draft pick Dominic Cervi?

Yeah, that guy that passed on the Fire and MLS due to a low-ball figure offered to him by the league is now set to finally complete a deal with Scottish giants Celtic.

USA Under-23 international Cervi impressed while on trial at Celtic.

His move has been delayed since September but he is now due in Glasgow after receiving an Italian passport.

The University of Tulsa graduate rejected the chance to sign a contract with Major League Soccer after being selected by Chicago Fire.

Cervi is likely to remain an understudy to Artur Boruc, should the Pole remain with the Scottish champions next season, and the present number one’s countryman, Lukasz Zaluska, who has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Glasgow club next season.

While Jon Busch has been fine for the Fire, having a kid like Cervi under him would have been good as well. More than likley he would have seen his fair share of time by now.

Let’s just say this one got away.

Cervi passed on a Gen Adidas contract, but still wanted Gen Adidas money. the kid got bad advice and then wasn't willing to play for what the Fire could afford on a 2nd choice keeper who's contract counts against the cap. <br />

Busch is the starter and perhaps Cervi would have seen action in the Open Cup or during friendlies, but Busch would still be starting even with Cervi behind him.

regardless of whatever deal didn't happen with the fire, the kid's going to a good european club…good for him.

It's long way from signing to playing in these big clubs and most don't make it. Let's hope he's the exception. It's likely to be 2-3 years playing in the reserves if he's does eventually make it to the first team…let see if he can stick it out.
