- African Players, African Scouting, MLS Scouting
I won’t go to far into this but I wanted to pass along an exceelent article that came up this morning over at ESPN’s Soccernet by Frank Dell’Apa. He goes into how the league is (finally) tapping into the huge resource that is Africa.
Click here for the Dell’Apa article. Its a solid read for those who haven’t quite read into the fact that the league is doing something it should have done years ago. Hit up Africa and its extremely large (and cheap) talent pool.
Its good to see clubs like New England (who leads the pack in this department), Toronto (who isn’t too far behind) and to a lesser extent Seattle or Columbus who have a couple key African players each.
While all the rage is still getting good talent from South America, clubs like New England have looked to Africa for younger and cheaper talent. Most of you probably know by now that I have been a huge supporter in clubs doing this sort of scouting. Hopefully more clubs will get on board with this and find more talent over there as the league continues to grow.
