Lincoln field in Philadelphia would be a spectacular venue. It's new(ish), very nice, an no stranger to soccer matches. In fact it's hosting a CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal doubleheader in July - http://www.lincolnfinancialfield.com/news/News.asp?story_id=96. I think the first match of any sport played there was between Man U and Barcelona in 2003, even. Every time soccer comes through, it gets very decent spectatorship. The stadium's pretty well served by rail transit as well, which I think is a big plus compared to suburban stadiums.

It would be awesome (however doubtful) for them to put one in Fayetteville, Ark. I would love it since it'd just be a short drive for me since I live in Arkansas. I can always get my hopes up.

If there's going to be 16 stadiums, then from your bolded 20, I will say

- 1 out of Charlotte, Atlanta, and Nashville
- LA Memorial vs Rose Bowl who knows
- Not sold on Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati with Chicago and Detroit nearby... maybe 1 of them though
- 1 in Florida... Would be Tampa b/c it's centrally located...
- Yes to Dallas and Houston having one each
- Def two in Cali, the second one should be north of LA though, so no San Diego... But Stanford/Berkely/Oakland aren't great... one of those three though
- FedEx > RFK (which might be gone by then)
- No Philly in '94, who knows if it will be used with DC, NY, and NE nearby...

Average attendance will be in the high 70's...

- Final in NY
- Semi's in Dallas/Chicago and LA
- Quarters in Dallas/Chicago, DC, Seattle, Tampa/Houston/Boston/Phoenix
- 16's in Tampa/Houston/Boston/Phoenix (3 of them), Denver, Detroit, KC, Philly, other CA/SE stadium

With 16 stadiums, 1 will be left out of the knockout round, so maybe they go with 15 which would be fine.
KC, Philly, other SE, and Houston on the chopping block

Hey BOB. are you from around the Madison area? i am, just curious to see if you are as well.

I agree that camp randall would be a great stadium to host a game, but i do see problems with parking in the area. But, madison is a great city that would be a very welcoming site for a world cup match.

The problems i see with this of course is how close chicago is to madison. I am sure that we are more likely to see Chicago/Twin cities than Chicago/Madison for the upper midwest area.

Drew, why do you like Ohio Stadium over the Browns stadium? Ohio Stadium is incredibly narrow (the pitch, that is), and obviously very old. The Browns' Stadium is pretty new (built in the 90's), seats 73k, and, I've heard, is just a great place overall. Plus Cleveland is a more exciting city than Columbus, at least in my opinion.

Madison, Wis. Camp Randall Stadium Madison, Wis.

no better place to put a world cup match than Madison Wisconsin...NOT JOKING...they should spread the games out so that the whole country is touched by the tournament. Madison would be a great addition...but they would need grass.

They'll choose the 16 largest (balancing media market and capacity) NFL stadiums and play 4 games at each (3 group, 1 knockout).

This list is just a dog-and-pony to show how far ahead we are of any other nation in terms of facilities. Most of the other contenders can't produce 6 stadiums over 50,000 capacity.

Ohio Stadium is way too narrow. It was used by the Crew but its not even up to NCAA regulations for soccer.

Which LA stadium do you think they would choose? I know they had it in the Rose Bowl in '94, but lately, soccer games have been hosted in the coliseum, and, frankly, the RB is a small field and falling into disrepair.

Did I just answer my own question, lol?
