- Alfredo Pacheco, Carlos Johnson, Player Signings
One defender is signed and ready to go for tonight’s season opener. The other is signed but will not be ready to go for another couple weeks due to visa issues.
Carlos Johnson is signed and available for tonight’s season-opener but his signing mate Alfredo Pacheco won’t be ready for another couple weeks.
Johnson is listed as questionable for tonight’s game with Seattle with a sore elbow though. More than likely we may see him as a second half sub. The 24-year-old Johnson came on a free transfer after securing his release from Norwegian Second Division side Bryne FK, where he made 17 appearances and scored one goal last year.
Pacheco, the 26-year-old left-back still hasn’t able to fly to the U.S. because of document problems. Since El Salvador’s former captain has signed, he can’t fly on a tourist visa, but has to await his P-1.
A lot of people expect these two to put New York’s defense over the top this season. While I think it is very possible that they can do it I just htink they will need some time to gel as a unit here early on this season. That could take some time too.
To be honest I see Johnson being a better signing in the long run than Pacheco. Just a hunch.
