• MLS Expansion, MLS Portland, Portland Expansion, Portland Timbers

I just got a couple emails and Facebook messages from some readers up in Portland (and yes I know this stuff is already posted elsewhere but I felt it needed posted again). Apparently there is going to possibly be another expansion announcement this week in Portland. According to the messages that a rally and press conference are being set for this Friday.

What: Rally and Press Conference Announcement

When: 9:30 a.m., Friday March 20

Where: Portland Hilton
921 SW Sixth Avenue, Portland Oregon

And the Timbers Army and supporters who rallied a couple weeks ago are asked to show up once again and be even louder than before.

What do you make of this news? I know I am excited to see Portland get in. Funny how the league decided to just do it all at once while they were out in Vancouver.

so if its seattle, portland, and vancouver up there in the northwest what rivalries are going to form. who has a reason to dislike anyone in particular? i've never heard of a three way rivalry.

MLS is doing the right moves, but the MLS should be ready for the NFL, NBA, MLB because they will try to keep us down. MLS should be ready to fight agaisnt those leagues, plus dont forget about the UFL, starting soon. The UFL is getting on MLS's way of expanding. Lets kill the UFL before the UFL takes our expansion cities. This is for the real football

Portland hates Seattle because Seattle beats them so much, Vancouver and Seattle respect each other because they both beat Portland so much and because they traded the USL-1 Titles for several years.

Portland is definitely the red-headed step child of the trio, they do have a rabid fan base, their only other pro team is the Trailblazers, not much to compete with. Almost complete opposite seasons, calendar-wise.
As the chant goes, sung in unison between Washingtonians and BC Canadians, "We all hate Portland!"
