Brunner Trade To Columbus?
The word of the day currently is that former New York draftee could be sent to Columbus today. Apparently defender Eric Brunner will join the Crew, it is just a matter of when it will happen at this point.
Brunner played left back for the Crew in its exhibition game today and would certainly add some depth there and in the center of the defense.
Brunner has indicated before that he would prefer to play for Columbus and would not mind playing on a developmental contract.
Officially, the Crew has one senior roster spot available and no developmental openings, but it’s unlikely third goalkeeper Kenny Schoeni will be retained after the preseason.
Columbus will have to work with New York, the MLS side that currently retains his player rights, in order to get a deal done. And this time, apparently he’s willing to accept the same developmental deal he refused to take in New York.
Man he must have hated being in New York. Either that or he fully expects to be apart of a winner this year in Columbus.
What do you make of Brunner going to the Crew? And he desire to play there for the same amount that he refused from the Red Bulls a season ago?
