- Expansion Hopefuls, MLS Expansion, St. Louis Expansion
Wow. If Major League Soccer was looking for a serious deep pocket for the St. Louis bid they may have gotten it. Today Anheuser-Busch has joined Jeff Cooper and his group to get a MLS club in the Gateway City.
“It’s huge. It’s a turning point,” Cooper said. “This commitment brings a lot of credibility to our bid, and shows the league how serious we are.”
“This is the best situation we could have hoped for,” Cooper said. “Whether it throws us over the top, that’s up to the MLS.”
Of course it all depends on the vote in Portland today. St. Louis is hoping to hear good news out of PDX later tonight. The league has already stepped up and posted a report on this matter.
I guess if things go well in Portland tonight St. Louis will turn to the USL for a club. Right? More than likely. Its kind of weird to think that they don’t already have USL-1 team right now anyways.
