New York Adds Pacheco

  • Alfredo Pacheco, Player Transfers

A move that most in New York expected to happen after the Red Bulls recently traded veteran defender Chris Leitch to San Jose earlier in the week. Red Bulls and FAS have agreed on a $30,000 loan fee for Alfredo Pacheco, according to La Prensa Grafica.

According to FAS president Reynaldo Valle, Pacheco will join the RBNY next week when they come back from training camp in Argentina. The 26-year-old left back is the captain of El Salvador’s national team.

Apparently the defender’s mother lives in LA and he actually called the move to MLS a “dream move”.

The club is still in talks Costa Rican right back Carlos Johnson to finish filling out their defensive needs. Should both moves go down the Red Bulls may actually have a defense that may scare some clubs in the league. I always said last year their defense was something that didn’t strike fear into the hearts of other clubs. Sure they made it to MLS Cup last year but in the end it was their defense that stunk up the place and cost them a championship.
