A couple days ago the LA Galaxy rejected a $10 million offer for midfielder David Beckham. At the time we all knew it was just a starting point. Now we know where the Galaxy want to go with it.

The Daily Mirror is now reporting that the Galaxy is asking for $22 million (15 million) for Beckham.

Woah nelly. That is definitely a lot for an aging winger.

To be honest I don’t blame the boys in LA one bit for raising the price from 10 to 22 here. More than likely they will meet somewhere inbetween when it is all said and done. My bet is it ends up getting done for somewhere in the neighborhood of $16 or 17 million. Just a hunch.

What do you all think the price will be to get Beckham sold? Is the $22 million tag too much or still too little for GoldenBalls?

That's cheap. His commercial value for MLS is far greater than $22-million/year.

Don't forget that Beckham has an escape clause in his MLS contract that he can activate after this season. If he does, the Galaxy gets nothing. Milan knows this and will successfully lowball the Galaxy, regardless of what price both parties agree on.

GoldenBalls? Now that's just wrong. 🙂

Galaxy will probably settle for about 18 million. Perhaps AC Milan will include a player on loan for a year as well.

Milan won't pay much more. Beckham is doing fine and Milan like the energy he is bringing to the team. But they need young players and if the price goes up to where it will prevent them from strengthening the team in the next transfer window, they won't spend it. <br />
The Galaxy need money for a solid team much more than they need Beckham or any big name. Same with the league. They'll get more popular as they field a more consistently good product. There are plenty of soccer fans in the US they just watch world football instead of US soccer because its so much better. But nothing beats a live match so if MLS keeps improving they'll get their fan base.
