While some still seem to think two clubs will start next year (which they won’t), the club that was elected to begin play next season unveiled new models for its soccer stadium.

Yeah, nothing like some stadium models to kick off the day. Photo via MLSPhilly2010.com.

What do ya make of it? Looks like a mighty fine stadium to me. Kind of similar to Rio Tinto Stadium and Toyota Park though for me. Still its better than playing in a shared stadium with Field Turf.

Is it better than a downtown stadium with Field Turf and no lines?

I only wonder because a stadium in the suburbs that can only seat 18.5k and is at 66% capacity on weeknights can't actually be better than a co-owned stadium tat is downtown and at 90% of its 24.5k capacity.

Plus, owning the stadium will mean that Seattle will play in front of over 60k at home on 3 occaissions this year.

The suburban SSS can't do that.

It was more of a jab at those Miami fans than you Sounder fans. I have no doubt you all will be fine…even with your Field Turf!

why can mls understand the northern states of the u.s. need more roof protection, because one day the mls will adapt to a winter schedule, and the northern states have colder winters. by the way, can just any mls soccer team follow the red bull stadium model, soccer is about being closer to the pitch. put it this way, if galaxy would of build a way better looking soccer stadium, would mls teams follow their stadium design, because every stadium i see looks familiar to the home depot center, and look like old style baseball stadiums. even a team down in mexico, is building a wanna be home depot center, for reals. common mls……. better stadiums more fans.

Even without a switch to a winter schedule MLS teams should want to have roofs or extensive under turf heating, because the CONCACAF will be in the winter.

all im trying to say, is mls owners can do better research and find someone who can really build a soccer specific stadium. all the new mls stadiums look alike, maybe because of rosetti architects suck. he builds nice stadiums for the nfl, but not for the mls. lets ask the mls god of stadiums to not include a stage in the stadium, and make the stadium with smartness because mls soccer teams will play in the winter sooner or later in national tournaments or mls league games. add more roof cover, whats so hard about building something nice at first, than waiting for the fans to show up. we want the best soccer in the u.s.a. then we must work hard for the best, plus even colleges will use mls soccer stadiums for soccer games, not american football.

For soccer stadium, is it better only to follow the red bull stadium models? Never. But the major problem in united states is colder winter season than others. So they must provide roof protection in the soccer stadium because the mls soccer team will play national tournaments in winter season.
