Atlanta Pulls Out Of Expansion Race

And then there was five.

Major League Soccer won’t be coming to Atlanta in 2011. Arthur Blank and his group pulled out of the expansion race today saying they couldn’t commit to play in time for the 2011 season.

Honestly I never saw Atlanta as a player in this race, nor do I really see them as a player in a possible 2013 expansion race.

Now we are down to St. Louis, Miami, Portland, Vancouver and Ottawa. No announcement has been made for the two possible destinations for MLS in 2011.

    With Atlnata ou tof the race and St. Louis having money issues, it really comes down to Miami getting a team and a battle between Portland and Vancouiver for another. IThey woill have to choose between one of them so they can have a rilvalry with Seattle.
