US Roster Released For Next Two Matches

Posted by: WVHooligan In: CONCACAF| FIFA| US National Team| World Cup

Sir Bob has released his 20-man roster for next week’s World Cup qualifier in Cuba (Sept. 6) and for the home match in Bridgeview, Ill., against Trinidad and Tobago (Sept. 10).

GOALKEEPERS: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan.

DEFENDERS: Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, Heath Pearce, Frankie Hejduk, Danny Califf, Steve Cherundolo*, Michael Orozco, Marvell Wynne.

MIDFIELDERS: DaMarcus Beasley, Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Maurice Edu, Eddie Lewis, Sacha Kljestan.

FORWARDS: Brian Ching, Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Eddie Johnson.

*suspended for Cuba game

Let the “Where’s Kenny Cooper” chants begin. Honestly I am over him not being called these days. I’d almost rather see Edson Buddle get the call at this point. I’d still like to see Freddy Adu or Jozy Altidore get the call but I suppose since they are getting settled with their new clubs it makes sense for Bob not to call them at the moment.

What do you make of this roster? Happy? Hating Bob? Let’s hear it.

Still don’t get the Eddie Johnson call up. What is the justification?

For the most part I usually like Bob’s call-ups, excpet for the forwards. He’s stuck in a rut with Ching and Johnson! He needs to try some new guys. Drew, you may be over the Cooper thing, but I’m not. It just doesn’t make any sense!

Cooper is a call up that should be a no brainer. He is better than Brian Chiing in almost every facet of the game, wxcept for experience and heaven forbid he get the opportunity to get that. Bradley really should clarify his reason for not callinf Adu and Altidore is that they are new at theier respective clubs, because if not he needs to be removed even sooner than i already think. They are the future, i respect eddie lewis, but there is no upside to him. We have to quite bringing in the average players in their late twenties and early thirties at the expense of giving younger more promising talent a chance. The older guys have no upside, and even more importantly its not like we are dealing with the question of calling up Befetimbi Martins instead of Thierry Henry, we have no Thierry Henry. It would be one thing if we were leaving out legends of the game, or our countries history, but we dont have those so why not give the younger players a chance. Am i the only one who feels that giving guys like Cooper and Charlie Davies would be a good idea, and even players in the midfield like Holden and Robbie Rogers offer youthfulness and an UPSIDE. What do we have to lose? My isue is that after out last World cup failure this was the time to rebuild and look to the future and it seems that bradley only has shortterm goals. I realize qualification is important but we cant use that as an excuse to stunt the potential growth of our future players.

Brian Ching sucks… no honestly, he does, always an anonymous face on the field. I’m tired of Bradley playing the same players and playing boring soccer, at least give Cooper a shot.

Let’s stop complaining about the roster let’s get rid of the guy doing the picking.

FIRE BRADLEY NOW!!!!!!

We don’t need to fire bradley, he’s doing fine. But he does need to start searching a little more for players who may not be a “traditional” pick. Chad Marshall has been a beast for the Crew and he hasn’t even had a sniff. Of course I should be thankful that he didn’t get picked for a game against Cuba. We’ll still have Most of our team in place for the Match against the Revs.

Honestly, I appreciate Adu and Altidore not getting called in. They are under 20 and getting training from big time clubs! We will win these games without them. Let them mature naturally like other legitimate soccer nations. Unless you are AMAZINGLY TALENTED…usually you do not get called in U-20.

Chad Marshall deserves another look. He got a number of looks under Arena and wasn’t fully developed at the time IMHO.

Kevin, this is Jesus. If you keep using my name like that, then one of the multitude of freaky christian zealots- those who *claim* to be my followers-may crucify you.

I’m sorry, this was never my intention.

cheers,
