For some the LA Galaxy debut of Bruce Arena didn’t go as planned. A 1-0 defeat to the Chicago Fire thanks to a second half goal by Galaxy-killer John Thornington. But for others the debut was pretty much expected due to the lack of Landon Donovan, David Beckham and Eddie Lewis. Oh yeah and the Galaxy defense didn’t get great over night with Arena.
Still with all of that I was a bit impressed with the Galaxy for the first hour or so of the game. They held the Fire off and created a couple chances of their own despite the lack of attack. Arena will change this club but it won’t be a total fix just yet. Games like last night won’t bode well for them to get into the playoffs this year.
