Philly Releases Stadium Design

Posted by: WVHooligan In: MLS| Philadelphia Union| Stadium Talk

All I can say is, now this is a nice looking stadium. Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC, the ownership group for the Major League Soccer Philadelphia expansion team, received the initial stadium designs from Rossetti Architects.

And even though it looks similar to others around the league, I think this one will be fine and dandy here.

The 18,500-seat stadium will be constructed at the foot of the Commodore Barry Bridge in Chester, 13 miles from downtown Philadelphia. The multipurpose stadium will feature an 11,000-square-foot club, 30 suites, and a special 2,000 seat zone for members of the Sons of Ben supporters club. Additionally, the new structure will have a waterfront park and plaza used not only for stadium entry, but also for city sponsored events such as festivals.

I like the old design better. At least that one was completely covered. Most MLS stadiums look like minor-league baseball stadiums. They really need to work on making all of the MLS stadiums look DIFFERENT. It’s egtting boring with the same basis for the designs of these stadiums, like the retro-look on MLB stadiums. I bet I could design a better stadium after taking an architecture class for a semester in high school.

I think it looks sweet, I love the idea of having a special section for the supporters. This club seems to bet getting set on the right track.

[...] Philly Releases Stadium Design   I see myself typing this more and more. Hopefully we will know what the Wizards stadium design is soon. …….Do you think that if the State of Missouri sees a drawing, or a mock up of the Hillcrest Road development, to include the real stadium, they might approve the tax credits in a more timely manner?  I don’t understand how an expansion city is releasing stadium designs ahead of ours which has been in the league since inception. Why only 18,500 seats? From how many ticket deposits they have already, I think they’ll need a LOT more than that. They should be sure to make expansion a possibility, like in Toronto.

The old design was better, way better. Why in the world do MLS team owners dont follow the RED BULL ARENA stadium design, its more money, but more serious Soccer looking. Now the Sons of BEN, lets see if you guys can change the soccer tsadium desing i think they can, they are the root of the Philly soccer team. Cmon Sons of Ben, change it, speak out.
