Johnson Signing With MLS

Former Chicago Fire striker and Canadian National team member Will Johnson has resigned with Major League Soccer according to SBI. He will be the target of many clubs around the league but Chicago retains his player rights.

Johnson was once apart of the Fire back in 2005 where he only played in five games (scoring once). He came to the Fire that season as a discovery player and was then offered a low-ball contract in 2006 (something around $25,000), he rejected it and went to Europe where he played in Holland with Heerenveen after a successful trial.

This past season he was out on loan to side De Graafschap, the champion of the Dutch Eerste Divisie, or First Division. Heerenveen manager Trond Sollied has said he will not be part of the first team plans thus giving him the freedom to look elsewhere.

Which club Johnson goes with is the question though. Most figure Chicago is going to just trade his rights away now that they have Brian McBride. Amazingly Toronto FC is said to not be in the mix even though TFC needs a striker and Johnson is a local boy.

From the sound of it clubs like Chivas, New York, and Colorado should be in the mix for Johnson. No word really where he will end up.

Where do you all think he will land? Think TFC would be dumb enough to pass on a local boy?
