- Clint Mathis, Summer Transfers, Trades
In case you haven’t seen the news, the Clint Mathis deal to Real Salt Lake is now complete. RSL acquired the MLS rights to Mathis from the LA Galaxy in exchange for a conditional fourth round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
Some like this move, some don’t. I’m sort of inbetween here on it. I want to see what they will be paying him first before I really jump to any conclusions about this. Last time out in the league he was widely viewed as one of the, if not the, most overpaid player in the league. I do have a feeling though this time around he won’t be paid quite as much.
Mathis seems eager to be back in Salt Lake City though.
“I always tell people this is one of my favorite cities I’ve ever played in,” Mathis said.
“The timing ended up being right,” Mathis said. “I just finished my stint in Greece and was out of contract and Jason just called me and asked if I would be interested in coming back. I told him for sure.”
You know if he is happy where he is at for once then this move may end up really working out for the club. I would love to see him return to his old form from like 2002.
