Arena To Coach LA?

One had to figure that the day after the whole LA Galaxy coaching/GM mess we would hear that one big name would be rumored to take over as the head coach. Well, it didn’t take long, that’s for sure, but the hot rumor right now is that former US National team coach Bruce Arena is in line to become the next coach of the LA Galaxy.

I know what your thinking. Really? Bruce again, back in MLS? Yes indeed folks. As much as I want to see interim coach Cobe Jones succeed in his new position and possibly as the full time coach, I can’t help but think this could be a good move for the Galaxy.

The reasons why is because I see Arena wanting to prove to everyone that his time in New York was just a fluke and he can still coach on an elite level. I see him as the college coach turned professional coach back in 1996 that lead DC United to a couple MLS Cups. I don’t see him as the in-over his head coach that came out of the 2006 World Cup and into the big seat in New York.

But let’s be honest, no coach in New York has ever been given the right amount of time to turn that club into a real winner.

Could Bruce be the answer for LA? Maybe not this season but it could happen next year. For now it is a wait and see kind of thing.

Do you all see Arena coming back to the league anytime soon? And if so with LA?
