Getty ImagesCrazy couple of hours here but I did just some confirmation that FC Dallas has traded for striker Jeff Cunningham from Toronto FC in exchange for a third round pick in next year’s SuperDraft.

Its a deal that I’ve discussed for weeks now and it finally come to a conclusion. I will admit I thought this morning he wouldn’t be traded to Dallas but now that its official I still feel pretty smart for thinking it was a deal that should shake down a month or so ago.

I do like the move though in the end, it brings a veteran of the league into the locker room. He should do much better in Dallas as he will be out to prove people wrong about him. That always helps fuel the fire.

Cunningham joins FCD as the 4th leading goal-scorer in league history with 99 career regular season goals.

Dallas head coach had this to say about his new striker.

“Jeff’s going to help the team tremendously, because now we’ll have two legitimate goal scorers with him and Kenny Cooper. You win games by scoring goals, and Jeff’s a proven goal-scorer. We feel this could be one of the strongest attacking duos in MLS soccer.”

What do you all make of this move? Good for Dallas, or good for Toronto to finally unload him?

3rd round pick for TFC, hmmmm?

I like this move a lot for Dallas. I think he will have a strong finish to the year; he plays better when motivated by things like trades. I also think playing with another quality striker who will take the defensive pressure off of him will help tremendously. And all for the low, low price of a 3rd round pick (aka basically nothing).

Ben – you're kidding, right? This guy's best days are behind him. As a season ticket holder (TFC) I've seen him play numerous times and it hasn't been fun. When you cross the ball to him, he looks lost. He can't dribble around any defenders and never passes the ball. Glad to see him leave Toronto. Good luck Dallas. I hope you don't loose Kenny Cooper cause then you're really screwed.
