Crazy couple of hours here but I did just some confirmation that FC Dallas has traded for striker Jeff Cunningham from Toronto FC in exchange for a third round pick in next year’s SuperDraft.
Its a deal that I’ve discussed for weeks now and it finally come to a conclusion. I will admit I thought this morning he wouldn’t be traded to Dallas but now that its official I still feel pretty smart for thinking it was a deal that should shake down a month or so ago.
I do like the move though in the end, it brings a veteran of the league into the locker room. He should do much better in Dallas as he will be out to prove people wrong about him. That always helps fuel the fire.
Cunningham joins FCD as the 4th leading goal-scorer in league history with 99 career regular season goals.
Dallas head coach had this to say about his new striker.
“Jeff’s going to help the team tremendously, because now we’ll have two legitimate goal scorers with him and Kenny Cooper. You win games by scoring goals, and Jeff’s a proven goal-scorer. We feel this could be one of the strongest attacking duos in MLS soccer.”
What do you all make of this move? Good for Dallas, or good for Toronto to finally unload him?
