  • Brian McBride, Don Garber, Summer Transfers, Trades

Just a quick note, MLS Commissioner Don Garber just announced at the MLS All-Star game halftime show that we will know tomorrow where Brian McBride is playing this year in the league. He said a deal was worked out today between Chicago and Toronto and it will be announced tomorrow.

Sounds like either one of the two clubs caved in a bit to get the deal done and that the league put some heavy pressure on one or both of them.

If I can get a word from one of my sources tonight on this deal I will let you know. Either way we will find out more tomorrow!

UPDATE: One source is telling me that the deal will be McBrides’s allocation rights to Chicago for Chad Barrett, draft picks and money to Toronto. TFC really wanted Chris Rolfe in this deal but apparently they are settling for Barrett due to their desperation to get more attacking options. It also seems clear that Toronto will still be looking elsewhere for another striker after tomorrow and that Jeff Cunningham will likely be on the move very soon.
