- CSD Municipal, Loan, Marco Pablo Pappa, Summer Transfers
This is one of those few international moves that I dropped the ball in talking about on here. But nevertheless, the Chicago Fire are set to bring in Marco Pablo Pappa on loan from Guatemala’s CSD Municipal the rest of this season and the 2009 season. The Fire will have an option to purchase Pappa’s contract at the end of the loan period.
Pappa will join the club once a physical is passed.
Pappa will take the last international roster spot for the Fire. The club will not have to drop anyone to make this move happen due to Calen Carr’s season ending injury.
The 20-year-old midfielder was a member of the Guatemalan U-23 team that finished fourth in the 2008 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament last March. He’s said to be very quick and is technically solid. Don’t be shocked to see him lined up on either side of the field, probably will be opposite of Justin Mapp on the wings if he works his way into the starting XI.
Sounds like a solid pickup for the Fire. I barely remember seeing this kid play for Guatemala in the Olympic qualifying tournament but he’s still very young and could be a nice project for the Fire in the long run.
