  • Cuauhtemoc Blanco, David Beckham, Don Garber

Thanks to SF over at The Offside Rules for linking this one up. Anytime MLS Commissioner Don Garber talks with press about the game and of course about David Beckham I have to have a listen. So I figured I would share it along with you all as well.

Nothing too noteworthy to talk about. Just the usual “we will get bigger here in the US soon” and “Beckham and Blanco are very valuable to us”…

I think Don Garber needs to stop discussing Beckham & Blanco & the notion of getting bigger here in the US and start working on improving the officiating in the MLS. These so-called referees / linesmen suck! I have seen far better officiated matches at the college & high school level here in the US – I won't even get into the officiating abroad – no comparison. Garber needs to figure out a way to bring in officials from abroad or at least send these officials to some training abroad. Something needs to change because players are going to get sick and tired of playing in the MLS with the state of officiating it is in now. I laugh every time I see Beckham get pissed off with the calls. I am a season ticket holder of the LA Galaxy and a huge supporter of MLS – but even my frustrations with the crappy officiating each and every game is trying patience.

You got that right — my Joe and his Quakes (and their coach) have been on the receiving end of some pretty bad calls this season too.
