  • Carlos Ruiz, Summer Transfers, Trades

Now that the transfer window is open, one MLS club is looking to ship out rather than bring in. Seeing how soccer is a game of imports and exports, it is fitting to see things happen like this from time to time.

A lot could happen between now and the end of the summer transfer window but from what I am hearing out there the LA Galaxy are still trying to shop striker Carlos Ruiz. Whether it be to a MLS club or back to  Guatemala.

Basically the only club I hear Ruiz going to at this point is Chivas USA. Others were said to be interested but the feelings weren’t going to be mutal with Ruiz. So that meant no dice to being a third partner in the famed three-way deal with Chicago and Toronto with Brian McBride and Wilman Conde being the other traded parts.

That also means no Columbus deal for Frankie Hejduk. Yeah that rumor seemed to be a load of crap to begin with, it was probably made up by someone on BigSoccer, who sent to the likes of MLS Rumors and other sites out there that were dumb enough to jump on the thought of a deal like that.

And it means that its no return to Dallas. Yeah, that never was even mentioned or thought of here in Dallas by the way.

So Chivas really appears to be the only candidate in MLS for Ruiz. Its apparent that the Galaxy want to get rid of him and their only trading partners will be Chivas. More than likely Ruiz will come at a discounted rate in my estimate. More so than the discount that he went to LA from Dallas for (yeah that allocation and draft pick nonsense was pathetic really).

What would LA get in return? Well if they ship him off to his homeland they get a nice allocation check for the transfer fee, if he goes to Chivas I would imagine the Red-and-White would send a draft pick and allocation. I honestly see no other player being involved in any deal. Chivas will more than likely cut a player (or two) in the next couple of weeks anyways to make room for a move like this one.

Will it work? I don’t know really, but I honestly don’t see Ruiz in a Galaxy uniform for much longer. Weird turn of events when you think about it. We all thought he would go back to LA and tear up the scoreboards with David Beckham and Landon Donovan. Instead he got hurt and has done practically nothing in terms of scoring since returning.

Galaxy fans, what do you want to happen with Ruiz? Send him packing back home and get some transfer fee goodness? Keep him for your own and figure it out in the off season? Or send him to your little brothers of the HDC for some much needed cap space and allocation money?

The problem is I can't think of a single player (other than Kljestan, and the Goats will never deal him) that the Galaxy would want. Yes they could use a draft pick and allocation, but it would be nice to get a guy who could help out this year.<br />

Not sure what will happen, but Lalas will screw it up!

I'm bummed things aren't working out for him. His first run in LA was awesome…well, when he wasn't opening Hooters bars back in his homeland. Things sure have gone downhill since then. Of course, like everyone else who's left LA, he'll probably come back to haunt us.

I have mixed feelings about seeing him go. I really liked him the first time he was with the club. I still think he can do some good for the Galaxy now – playing him alongside Buddle and dropping Donovan back as an attacking midfielder. He is no good off the bench – Ruiz has to start to get anything done – his game evolves as the match goes on. If he has to be traded or shipped back to Guatemala, I think the Galaxy need to add Lalas to that as well. Lalas needs to be shipped off as well – make a note to all MLS clubs he take on Ruiz must take Lalas as well. Why oh why will the brass at AEG just give Lalas his walking papers. He cannot GM this team to save his life. I am getting to draft a petition to get this guy fired. This Galaxy season ticket holder has had about enough of this futility and crappy trades, draft picks, etc.
