Kaiser, you're on crack if you think Chicago would even entertain the idea of trading Segares. Conde, on the other hand, maybe to a western team. It's well known he's unhappy and not playing right now. I don't know why everyone thinks that Toronto "holds all the cards"? McBride wants to play in Chicago and only Chicago. If Toronto and Chicago don't come to terms, it's not like McBride would play for Toronto or any other team. It's entirely possible that McBride would just take the year off. Especially since he wouldn't be available till mid July anyways and wants to play in the Olympics. I don't see Houston giving up DeRo and a DP for nothing. Maybe this is just the type of situation that will make the league wake up and get rid of this ridiculous DP/allocation nonsense. The only reason that Toronto (a canadian team) has rights to an American Nat is because of this stupid rule. The fact that McBride can't just sign with the team of his choosing is ri-goddamn-diculous.

If I'm Houstan there's no way I'm trading both DeRo and my DP spot. I would trade DeRo for Edu, but I don't know what would make me trade a DP spot at this point.

Hello everybody, did you forget that this MLS and there are no rules and no team rights. MLS will decide who goes where and when and for what.....that's why MLS stands for Minor League Soccer.

The notion that Houston will trade De Rosario for young up and coming players is absurd. Dominic Kinnear said on Glenn Davis weekly radio show that he makes trades for immediate impact to win NOW. There were long negotiations with De Ro to get a multi year contract that keeps him in Houston through 2010. Furthermore, De Ro looks to be the answer to Houston's problem of a missing forward. With all the depth Houston has in the midfield, moving Stuart Holden off the bench to starting attacking midfield and De Ro up front will bring Houston back into contention for a 3rd consecutive MLS cup appearance. To say that Houston will trade De Ro for young up and coming talent is to say that Houston will surrender the possibility of winning it this season. NEVER going to happen.

Bob, I basically was implying that they would all "pass"...not meaning they wouldn't deal with Chicago. It would basically mean they would probably be a bit easier to deal with Chicago than Toronto is right now. Either way the league and the Fire want McBride happy and in Chicago and McBride wants to be happy and in Chicago.

DK. yeah your deal makes a lot of sense as well. I was mostly just reaction to Wheeler's article and trade discussion. I'm still a bit puzzled by his trade talk but that's what I got out of it. And I wouldn't be at all shocked to see LA get in the mix if possible. I just doubt Ruiz would want to be involved.

"More or less you would see every club 'pass' on McBride so Chicago could sign him. Even then they would still have to dump some salary and trade some parts away."

If this situation would occur, why would every club 'pass' on McBride? Wouldn't the next team in the allocation list begin negotiations with Chicago?

That DeRo deal is stupid! Why would Houston give up its best player? Not cause he's Canadian and they feel bad and want to send him home! Sure they look a little old, but I can't think of a combo of players that makes them significantly better. Add to that the fact that Houston would give up a DP and this deal is just plain nuts!!!!! If Houston makes that deal they should instantly be relegated (bring up Portland in thier place)! Plus Toronto would have 5 talented midfielders and no solid striker.

If you want a 3 way deal that makes sense here it is:

Chicago gets: McBride and Dunavant
Toronto gets: Ruiz, Jazic (there's your Canadian!) and a draft pick
LA gets: Conde and Segares

Chicago gets thier striker...Toronto gets thier striker and a canadian...LA instantly improves thier defense! Think about it...it makes sense.
