Midweek Preview: Dynamo Face United

Yet another midweek game in Major League Soccer. I suppose the scheduling trend nearly passed me over as I almost forgot about this game tonight. Oh well, I should have known after two straight weeks of Wednesday night games that we’d have another.

The two time defending champion Houston Dynamo take their show to the road to face off against DC Untied in what was expected to be a MLS Cup preview when the schedule was released back in February. That really isn’t the case right now as we all know.

Houston will be without Eddie Robinson again for this one who got his suspension extended for his little spat with  FC Dallas midfielder Marcelo Saragosa. Robinson sat out Houston’s last win on Saturday against New York.

Other than Robinson, neither club is missing a whole lot. DC is missing the usual suspect in Ben Olsen, so by now they should be use to not having Benny on the field. Houston may be without Wade Barrett again, he is listed as doubtful.

The weather outlook tonight in DC sounds a bit gloomy and so does this game for that matter. We had a lot of hype surrounding this game but after 10 weeks of play, what should have been week 11’s blockbuster is nothing more than an average game. Amazing what a difference a year makes huh? Have no fear though, it should still be a good contest as both clubs are waking up here this season.

I think until I get some more reason that DC can play a full 90 against a quality side then I cannot go with them just yet. They may come out and surprise me tonight and dominate this game, which is fine but I cannot pick them to win until that kind of thing happens. After watching them against New England last week, it was clearly a game of two halves and DC only played one of them.

Houston on the other hand is starting to put it together. Their 1-0 win over New York was a good sign as ever that this club can play when missing some parts like Dwayne De Rosario. He will be back for this one and that should be enough to lift Houston to another road win over an eastern side this season.

It will be close but I just like how Houston is coming together more than DC right now.

WVH Prediction: Houston 1, DC 0

What does it matter that Houston looks better than United right now? It's RFK! Unless we're playing the best in the league (Fire and Crew), we literally cannot lose here. And won't. 2-0 United.
