RSSThat didn’t take long at all. Just as reports suggested earlier, it is now official. The LA Galaxy acquired Joe Franchino from the New England Revolution on today for a second-round pick in 2009 SuperDraft.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around this from a Galaxy standpoint but maybe seeing him on the field and actually helping that defense will improve my thoughts of this trade. Until then, I stand by what I said earlier, I don’t like it.
For New England it shouldn’t matter a whole lot, they get an early pick that I wouldn’t be shocked to see them trade away later on anyways.
Am I the only one on this deal that doesn’t get why the Galaxy went in this direction? I still feel they could have gone and done better here but maybe I am the only one. What do you all think of this deal?
If he’s recovered from that tendon injury and is able to work through those personal problems (divorce, rumored drink problem), LA will be getting a defender that can fill in at the d-mid/left-mid position. Franchino has great work rate and leadership ability. It’ll be good for our young defenders (Randolph, Franklin, Valentin) to have another veteran to learn from.
Again, the only qualifier is Franchino getting over whatever stuff that has been limiting him.
Personally I don’t think LA needs Franchino, but on paper the trade could work out very well.
franchino works xtra hard and takes his job serious. he wasnt a captain at new england for so long for nothing.he brings an edge to the galaxy that is needed.he will bring intensity to galaxy play as well as showing young players what giving 110 percent is all about.
