Tough break for Colorado Rapids fans, Queensland Roar striker Reinaldo announced that he was not signing with the MLS club yesterday. Instead he will sign with Korean K-League side Busan I’Park.
A deal was in place for the 23-year-old striker to join the Rapids this week but the Korean side came in with a late proposal to snatch the Brazilian away from Colorado.
Honestly a tough blow for the Rapids as they will have to look elsewhere for scoring options. They were one of the clubs that was said to be interested in former FC Dallas striker Roberto Mina (I know yesterday I said it was just Houston and New York but sources told me yesterday that Colorado was too interested). As a deal won’t happen with Mina, it is doubtful that the Rapids will sign a striker before the start of the season.
They did pick up one player yesterday, signing 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder Rafel Gomes from Portuguese side CD Santa Clara. Not the Brazilian some Rapids fans had hoped for but still adding depth to the midfield is going to be key for the Rapids right now as they hope for some offense from somewhere on the pitch.
