As reported earlier on Ives, the Red Bulls signed Colombian striker Oscar Echeverry.
The 30-year-old forward should help added some depth to a solid attack for Juan Carlos Osorio. Plus, more importantly, he will he there for matches that Jozy Altidore will miss this summer with the national team for the Olympics and other duties.
I have to say, getting a guy like Echeverry is a good thing for New York, their depth is getting better and better while other clubs continue to fail to sign strikers.
Though some out there will probably blast this signing since he is a fairly unproven striker on an international scale and he is already in his 30s. Plus he is coming off a knee injury. In a way to me this sounds like Osorio has found a Paulo Wanchope-type player for his new club. Old, injured and a forward. Yup, that’s Wanchope to me.
Ives seems a little excited about this signing, then again he could hate it for all I know, so are you Red Bull fans?
