Word from my sources in C-Bus, Guillermo Barros Schelotto arrived this morning.
Those cries you hear may be from Gimnasia down in Argentina. But at least, for now, the Crew and their fans can breathe again.
Also the word from C-Bus is that the Crew have had some more talks with Polish striker Maciej Zurawski.
Both sides have been in talks for weeks but it was assumed that deal was dead when Zurawski’s club Celtic stated that a transfer fee for the Polish captian would be around $2 million, a number that the MLS and the Crew would easily turn away from.
One source in Poland with ties to the Polish national team and Celtic said that “he was 90 percent” sure a deal would happen, possibly as early as Tuesday.
The Crew source refuted that claim and said that as of this afternoon Hunt Sports Group, MLS and Celtic were not close to an agreement on a transfer fee, although that if a deal could be struck the Crew would be willing to sign Zurawski as its designated player and pay him well above the league’s normal maximum salary.
Still looks like both sides want this deal to happen though and hopefully for the league and the Crew’s sake it will happen. The addition of Zurawski, added with the play of Schelotto could make the Crew a very entertaining side this season.
Either way, I think the Crew have something brewing for a DP or a decent signing in the next day or so before the transfer window closes.
