Some were puzzled out there to why the Kansas City Wizards passed on a number of strikers in last week’s MLS SuperDraft. I had a feeling going into the draft that they would go the direction that they went even with the potential loss of Eddie Johnson to Fulham or where ever he lands. But it appears they may have found a guy to help replace Johnson.
Yesterday it has been announced by the club that they have gone out and signed Colombian Iván Trujillo. It had been rumored for a few days that the two sides were in talks with one another about a deal but it looks like Trujillo may be the Wizard’s man to replace Johnson.
Wizards Coach Curt Onalfo confirmed the signing yesterday on Sports Radio 810AM in KC. There should be a formal announcement this week to present Trujillo.
I don’t have a lot of info on the player, no wiki page out there to help anyone either. So I cannot give you any real guesses as to what kind of player he is and who all he has played with. Any Columbian readers out there could help or anyone familiar with the Columbian soccer leagues.
