We all know now that the Columbus Crew are actively looking for a player to fill their designated player spot on their roster and it looks like they could be zeroing in on Celtic FC forward Maciej Zurawski.
You may recall a month ago or so the same Polish striker’s name being mentioned with the LA Galaxy. Turns out there is still some strong interest between his camp and the MLS. Now the Crew are the link between the two sides and it could make perfect sense for a club who needs quality play at the striker position.
Zurawski, from Poland, was signed by Celtic FC, a Scottish Premier League team, in 2005 after twice leading the Polish first division in goals. He has 31 goals in 70 appearances with the Hoops and has played in 62 games for the Polish national team.
Zurawski also has been linked with moves to Maccabi Haifa (Israel) and FC Nurnberg (Germany).
Honestly, if the Crew don’t trade up in this week’s draft for the number one spot, then this would be something they need to do. I’d love to see the pair of Schelotto and Zurawski.
Sources tell me we could be a couple days away from hearing if the Crew actually use their DP tag on anyone. I will try to monitor this one as close as I can in the mean time.
