Sources tell me that the Eddie Johnson transfer to Fulham is almost done and we should hear final confirmation within the next day or so.
Johnson and his agent, Richard Motzkin, are in London finalizing the deal that is expected to net Major League Soccer close to $6 million in transfer fees, which would easily shatter the previous record for an MLS transfer fee, held by Clint Dempsey.
As for Johnson’s former team the Wizards, they haven’t stopped dealing since EJ landed in London. Earlier they traded for the number one pick in the MLS Superdraft by sending Nick Garcia away to the Quakes.
Now it appears that they have shipped more of their defense off, this time being Jose Burciaga to the Colorado Rapids for an undisclosed draft pick.
Nothing is confirmed on the Burciaga deal but it appears to be waiting league approval. I talked about earlier today how Burciaga would be a prime player to trade away with San Jose looking to deal the number one pick. Instead they deal him to Colorado. I must say, for the Rapids that is a good move and also a good move for Jose who was needing a change of scenery.
