Pretty cool news if you ask me. But apparently word in the Windy City today is that Best Buy will be jersey sponsors for the Chicago Fire very soon.
According to a source, Best Buy has reached a deal with the Fire to it’s jerseys sponsor starting in the 2008 season. Terms of the deal were not available, probably guess that its a deal similar to the Herbalife deal with the LA Galaxy ($3.5 million and $5 million a year through 2011).
The Fire becomes the eighth MLS team to sign a jersey sponsor along with Real Salt Lake (XanGo), the Los Angeles Galaxy (Herbalife), the New York Red Bulls (Red Bull), Toronto FC (BMO Financial Group), Chivas USA (Comex), Houston Dynamo (Amigo Energy), and the Columbus Crew (ICI Paints).
Some people are saying this is due to Best Buy’s recent expansion to Mexico, so you could bet that Blanco is the main reason for this deal.
What it looks like on their jerseys will remain to be seen, but I think it will work out for everyone here.
Now if we can only get Colorado, Dallas, DC, San Jose, New England and KC on board with a sponsor, we’d all be set!
