A move (or two) that I felt was overdue by FC Dallas. Reports around the Big D today are that Michael Hitchcock is being stripped of his player/personnel decision making process and may have his title of General Manger stripped as well.
Last year he lost the title of President to John Wagner, Hitchcock has had his duties shifted to concentrate full time on what originally made him a success, marketing and sales.
HSG (FCD’s owner) is surely looking for attendance numbers closer to what was originally promised when he was hired; multiple sell outs and attendance averages among the highest in the league.
Honestly, this is the best news as a Hoops fan that I have seen this off-season, even better than the news to not re-sign Denilson as a DP. I think removing him of his GM duties has to be next really because his knowledge of the game is lacking of other GMs from around the league and the quality has shown on the field for Dallas. Some may argue that he has helped bring in the Juan Toja’s of the world but that was mostly the scouting of the coaches and not the Hitchcock the GM.
Hopefully from this Hitch can return his focus to what he is good at and help get the Hoops a jersey sponsor.
