The bracket is set. The early season play kicks up again for DC United and the Houston Dynamo next March in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
According to this bracket on the CONCACAF Web site, DC will play Harbour View (Jamaica) and Houston will face Municipal (Guatemala) in the quarterfinals of the Champions’ Cup. Both games are on the road to start out for the MLS clubs, with a return leg in the States.
The other pairings are Pachuca-Motagua and Atlante-Saprissa. Opening matches are March 11-13.
Both DC and Houston should have a decent shot at going far in this Cup next year. Hopefully we can see an all-MLS final in this in late March. Though the interesting figure could be if that happens because the second leg of the final comes on the MLS opening weekend (March 29). I wonder how that will shake up the MLS calendar if one or both clubs are involved in the final.
Guess we will see.
