Sometimes you have to leave the country to look for work when you are a member of Real Salt Lake. Alecko Eskandarian is having to do just that, mainly because he will more than likely have trouble staying at Real next season and he probably wants yet another change of scenery.

Esky has popped up in Belgium looking for a job at Standard Liege. If that name rings a bell it’s because it’s Gooch Onyewu’s club. Apparently he is on trial there with the club.

I suppose Belgium is an upgrade to some degree to Salt Lake city, less Mormons or something. Honestly I would love to see Esky go abroad this winter and get on with a club like Standard Liege. Sure he is a favorite of mine in the MLS but I think this would be a solid move for him if he can get on elsewhere. I really felt that Salt Lake was a horrible location for him to end up at, at least in Toronto he was getting a lot of love from the fans and getting the quality PT that he needs.

So add Esky to the growing list of MLSers abroad on trail this winter. I am sure something will come of it for most of them…
