Looks as though the Troy Perkins ship is about to sail to Norway. All that stands in the way is some pending physicals and signing some paper work.
The money side of this will come about once the transfer is complete.
Perkin’s new club in Norway, Valerenga IF has already posted this on their website (sorry it’s in Norwegian and I surely don’t have the time to translate that.)
I still believe this is a good move for Perkins. He had a solid year for DC but you could always tell he wanted more and going to Europe was just that. Going to a lower level like Norway is good too since he will more than likely be the number one keeper at Valerenga. Plenty of Yanks have gone abroad and started out in Norway and done well, so hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for Perkins.
As for his now former club DC, they are now expected to go out and get another keeper to back up Zach Wells. No word on if they will just draft a keeper or sign a backup from the MLS or USL-1. I kind of think they will try and draft one if a good enough one is available when they draft.
More deals to come…I am sure of that…
