Finally some good news for Red Bull fans. They will finally start work next week on a soccer stadium that is now slated to open up in the summer of 2009 instead of the early projections of next spring.
Either way, now that the Red Bulls have parted ways with AEG, they now have a potential stadium that looks cooler than any other in the league right now in my opinion.
Take a look for yourself…
The final design has been modified to and will seat 25,189. The plans with AEG included a concert stage built into one end of the stadium and a cantilevered roof that would have covered the majority of the crowd. The (final) Red Bull version eliminates the stage, reduces the number of luxury suites from 50 to 30 and features a translucent polycarbonate and aluminum roof that will cover every seat.
I think this new design is better than the older one with AEG. Red Bull may have paid more cash than they should have for all of this but honestly, I think this will be very welcomed around the league. Very European style of stadium but I think it will be the best that the league has to offer once it is finished. Let’s just hope no more hiccups come up with it.
