Sources tell me that San Jose has made another deal today sending a forth-round draft pick in next year’s SuperDraft to Chivas USA for keeper Preston Burpo.
Honestly a smart deal for the Quakes as Burpo has some starting experience and should be able to see plenty of playing time in San Jose between the pipes. Not to mention with the defense that was drafted in last week’s expansion draft this trade makes sense to me just as much.
The Quakes get a decent starter to play in front of a decent defense. Pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together nicely for the Quakes. The only part I don’t like and agree with is dealing away a draft pick that they need. It looks like they will now get only a couple picks in the main draft and have to rely on Supplemental picks to fill roster spaces.
