In what really is the least biggest surprise of the soccer calendar in 2007, FIFA will formally name Brazil as the host of the 2014 World Cup. Sources tell me FIFA has completed the formality of choosing Brazil and will make a formal announcement soon (possibly Tuesday) in Zurich.
I, like some others were hopeful that the US could sneak in and get this bid but I have to say this is a good move to see the World Cup return to be played in Brazil. I have a feeling it will be a solid event. I can bet that the entire country will take a vacation during this event to make it special.
I hope to be able to travel to this one and then to be able to see the US host it again in 2018. Time will tell on that subject but I am pretty excited to see a World Cup on Brazil soil. Sad that no other South American country had a bid for this tournament though.
