It looks like we will see David Beckham once more before the season ends as LA Galaxy coach Frank Yallop has deemed Becks as okay to go for tonight’s prime-time clash with the New York Red Bulls.
“David has trained with the club all week and he will be available for selection on Thursday night,” Yallop said.
Beckham last played for the Galaxy on August 29 when he suffered a right knee sprain in the first half of the SuperLiga Final against Pachuca. He has only played in six games with the Galaxy, including four starts to go along with one goal and three assists.
The Galaxy are currently on a role going into the final weekend of the regular season, winning five in a row without the services of Beckham. I kind of wonder how the Galaxy will respond with having Beckham back on the active roster will do for them. But with the Gals needed all six points this week, having a player like Beckham back certainly wouldn’t help.
Look for Beckham to get some minutes tonight, coming off the bench in the second half. Too bad most of America will not see this game as it doesn’t come on until 11 pm Eastern.
Also, if the Galaxy reach the playoffs, you have to believe that the MLS will love being able to promote more Beckham in the post season. The dream is still alive in some ways for a Galaxy-United final in the MLS Cup; hate to admit it but if the league could fix to where that would be the final with Beckham playing, they would.
What do you make of Beckham coming back before the end of the regular season?
