For the second week in a row the MLS offers us up a mid-week game with RSL in it. This week Real will be hosting the Beckham-less Galaxy at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

LA Galaxy – at – Real Salt Lake

The Galaxy pretty much are out of the running at this point unless a miracle occurs between now and the end of the season. I am talking an eight game winning streak from now until the final game of the season, even that probably will not be enough to get the Galaxy in. Real has the slimmest of hopes too, they basically need to win this game and continue a streak.

With that said I still believe this could be a week that Real gets six points in their two games (Sunday they host Colorado). They have to get off on a good foot in this rubber match with the Galaxy. Their last meeting at the beginning of the month looked promising for Real to make some headway in the west and get some points on the board.

I honestly like Real in this game even though they are missing two of their newest players in Fabian Espindola and Matias Mantilla, who are both out on suspension due to red cards and too many yellows respectively. LA has just been rather pathetic as of late as we all know but this could be a game that they need to get at least some hope for the rest of the season. Either way I kind of see this game as a test period for both clubs in regards to their 2008 campaigns (more so for Real than LA).

Real should come out on top in this one and get to 22 points on the season. That’s a lot more than I expected a couple months ago out of this club. Should be an interesting game between two sides that really have nothing else to lose at this point in the season.

WVH Prediction: RSL 3, LA 2
